0. Welcome To Soundprobe

Soundprobe is an advanced and very powerful sound editor, recorder and effects processing package for Windows 95/98/NT/ME and 2000. To make full use of Soundprobe you need a PC computer with one of the above operating systems, along with one or more Windows compatible sound cards.

It is the perfect creative tool not only for manipulating and mixing multiple tracks of music but also to make outstanding and diverse sounds for use in multimedia and application development.

Soundprobe has been designed to enable complex editing of sounds in an intuitive and powerful environment. The interface uses all the standard Windows features such as toolbars, pop-up menus and keyboard shortcuts, giving you a friendly and uncluttered interface with power at your fingertips.

Everyone from dabblers to DJs will find Soundprobe to be the sound editor of their dreams. No slouch on low-spec machines, its ability to load and record sounds directly to hard disk or memory makes it lightning fast on high-end systems.

Advanced Features

An advanced recording section enables you to record from any Windows input device directly into Soundprobe. (Alternatively you may open sound files in a variety of standard sound formats.) Once a sound is on your screen, use Soundprobe to edit and apply effects and then save in AIFF, WAV, MP3 or any other of the various sound file formats supported by Soundprobe.

An astounding number of powerful effects enable musicians and developers to bring sounds to life.

All effects may be customised with presets and advanced parameter variations, including powerful vector envelopes which allow control of how any part of an effect changes over time. You can simulate a wide variety of room acoustics, apply filtering to remove or enhance certain frequencies, add popular 60s style effects such as flanger, change the pitch, reduce noise levels, remove clicks and pops, reduce voices for use with a karaoke machine, and plenty more besides.

Much effects processing can be done in real-time using the Preview and Real-time commands:

But Soundprobe is not just about effects. Take sound editing to a new level with true frequency editing, which enables edits and effects to be applied to any selected frequency band by simply selecting the frequencies on a spectrogram.

An enormous suite of editing features is available, including manual waveform editing and interpolation, plus advanced regions and looping alongside a powerful cross fader for those really difficult loops.

Soundprobe boasts four types of fast-rendering visualisation graphs, including spectrograms, a uniquely combined time and frequency graph, 3D frequency surfaces as well as the usual time display. The full multi-document interface enables multiple views of the same sound, each with its own graph and selection, making Soundprobe a joy to use.
